Wolof is mainly spoken in Senegal and Gambia. We added Wolof to kasahorow at the end of 2012. It looked like we had found a workable system that could support a lot more African languages. So we wanted to test that theory by adding a language with a substantially different grammar than the languages we already knew.
Writing Convention
Modern Wolof is a simple-to-read writing convention for Wolof. Words with different parts of speech are separated by spaces. We use the following word categories in our Modern Wolof Dictionary.
nom.1
Nouns that take "bi" as their definite determiner. For example,
xet (indefinite) becomes "xet bi" (definite).
nom.2
Nouns that take "ji" as their definite determiner. For example,
jank (indefinite) becomes "jank ji" (definite).
nom.3
Nouns that take "ki" as their definite determiner. For example,
nitt (indefinite) becomes "nitt ki" (definite).
nom.4
Nouns that take "si" as their definite determiner. For example,
soxna (indefinite) becomes "soxna si" (definite).
nom.5
Nouns that take "li" as their definite determiner. For example,
loxo (indefinite) becomes "loxo li" (definite).
nom.6
Nouns that take "gi" as their definite determiner. For example,
gannaaw (indefinite) becomes "gannaaw gi" (definite).
