Writing Conventions
Modern Lingala is written with spaces between dictionary words. This makes it faster to read by new language learners. Here are the word categories used in the Modern Lingala Dictionary and WOAKA: The kasahorow Dictionary.
nom.1
Nouns that form their plurals by changing the prefix "mo-" to "ba-". For example, mopesi (singular) becomes "bapesi" (plural).
nom.2
Nouns that form their plurals by changing the prefix "mo-" to "mi-". For example, mokila (singular) becomes "mikila" (plural).
nom.3
Nouns that form their plurals by changing the prefix "li-" to "ma-". For example, mokila (singular) becomes "maloba" (plural).
nom.4
Nouns that form their plurals by changing the prefix "e-" to "bi-". For example, eloko (singular) becomes "biloko" (plural).
nom.5
Nouns that form their plurals by adding the prefix "ba-". For example, lutu (singular) becomes "balutu" (plural).
nom.6
Nouns that keep the same spelling in their plurals. For example, ntaba (singular) becomes "ntaba" (plural). Proper nouns are also in this category.

This is the default category for all verbs that form their infinitive with 'ko-' as a prefix. For example, tambola (dictionary entry) becomes "kotambola" (infinitive).
